Call For Papers: 2015 TUSA‐UC Berkeley Doctoral Workshop on Asian Studies

Workshop Dates: January 12‐17, 2015
Location: National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan

The Top University Strategic Alliance (TUSA,  頂尖大學策略聯盟) and the University of California, Berkeley will hold a joint doctoral workshop on Asian Studies in 2015. The workshop is accepting applications for participation in a week long, intensive,
dissertation writing workshop for doctoral students, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows in the Social Sciences and the Humanities in Taiwan. Projects should be related to one of the following regions: East Asia, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, China, or the Asia Pacific.

Eligibility and Application Guidelines

Applicants must be doctoral candidates with at least one chapter of their dissertation completed and ready for credible presentation and constructive feedback. While applicants may be on the job market, historians should note the potential scheduling conflict with the AHA annual meeting. The project of applicants should concern one of the following regions: East Asia, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, China, or the Asia Pacific.

Required Application Materials
(1) An application form that includes the applicant’s name, department, email address, phone number, dissertation title (as shown in appendix) and major professor.
(2) Curriculum Vitae.
(3) A one page proposal, single spaced, that clearly addresses the state of the dissertation.
(4) A letter of support from one’s major professor is optional but will help in the event that there are more applicants than spaces in the workshop.
Applications should be submitted in a single PDF file in the order listed above.
