Authoring a Book Chapter

I am posting this more or less to reiterate the email I just sent out, but if you didn’t get that, here is the information again:

OK, as you know, one of the requirements for graduating IDAS is to publish a paper. (It’s also one of the regular job duties of this academic occupation we’re trying to get into!)

To that end, I am hoping that several of you will take advantage of this opportunity to have a chapter in a new book that Dean Chuang and Professor Berman are putting together – they have already secured a contract with Emerald Group Publishing, so the project is a go. Right now we are looking for chapter proposals.

I put an attachment to this email that has more details about the topics required, but long story short: topic-wise, this is ideal given the subject matter we cover in IDAS.

Also, in case you’re worried that you don’t have the time or experience to put together an entire chapter on your own, I checked, and co-authored papers are fine. Plus, you can work together with one of your professors (or help with research and writing for one of the profs that already have a chapter), and thus still get your name in the book as a co-author.

In my own experience, I have several articles that I have sent out to journals only to have them rejected, time and again, after three months. I could wallpaper my room with all the rejection letters, but that would clash with my interior decorating scheme (shabby chic). It’s a tough game. So I will definitely be taking part in this project, and I hope there are several IDAS students who will do likewise.

Anyway, take a look at the attached file, and if you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email. I’ll also be around campus on Monday afternoons if you want to meet up and chat in person.

Here’s the doc file with the info:  Asian Leadership- Call for Proposals-3
